The Story of Mahishasurmardini

0

Hindu dharma holds a special place amongst the world’s major religions due to its worship of the Divine Feminine. Devi, also known as Aadi Shakti, is the feminine aspect of the supreme Godhead, of which the male aspect is Shiva, who is the Aadi Purusha. Purusha and Shakti together create the manifest and unmanifest universe.

One unique aspect of Hinduism is the way in which this feminine aspect has been described. Not only does Devi embody the qualities of maternal love, compassion and forgiveness, but also strength, valor and fierceness. Durga and Kaali are her fierce forms which she assumes to protect the world from evil forces. One such evil character was Mahishasur, a demon who challenged her. Mahishasur was the son of Rambha, another demon, and Mahishi, a water buffalo. Mahishasur could change his form to that of a buffalo at will. Through years of austere tapas (penance), he pleased Lord Brahma and obtained a boon from Him that no man or god, not even the Trinity (Shiva, Vishnu & Brahma), could kill him. Because of this boon, he became the king of asuras (demons) and conquered Swarga (heaven) as well, defeating all the gods. He then reached Kailash to challenge Shiva, but saw Devi there instead. He was immediately captivated by her divine beauty and decided to marry her. Devi was furious by his advances, and warned him to not underestimate the power of a woman. Mahishasur, who was blind with lust and arrogance over his boon, did not heed her warnings and challenged her to fight with him. He forgot that the boon only saved him from the gods, not a goddess. Devi fought a fierce battle with him for nine days. On the tenth day, she slayed him with her trishul (trident). This day is celebrated as Vijay Dashami, and the nine preceding days are celebrated as Navaratri, in which nine forms of Devi are worshiped. Durga deities worshipped during Navratri typically depict this scene.

This story is a reminder that Hindu scriptures do not show the feminine as powerless. There is a deep respect for women ingrained in the Vedic culture. The slaying of Mahishasur also symbolizes the victory over negative thought patterns. Mahishasur is the embodiment of all the incompletions which try to engulf the innate consciousness of a human being. Devi, or the cosmic divinity, always incarnates in various forms to restore balance and completion to the world by destroying all the negative patterns.

Navaratri, the Time of Intense Seeking

0

Navaratri, one of the most intensely celebrated festivals of Vedic tradition, is an occasion to connect with the feminine form of the divine. ‘Nava’ means nine and ‘ratri’ means night and also intensity. Navaratri is a festival which celebrates nine different expressions of the Devi energy (Cosmic feminine energy) spanning over a period of nine nights and ten days. Navaratri is a time when people can become more intense in their desired field. It is an auspicious time for one’s own spiritual evolution.

Nine forms of Devi are worshipped during Navaratri. They are: Shailaputri, Brahmacharini, Chandraghanta, Kushmanda, Skandamata, Katyayani, Kaalratri, Mahagauri and Siddhidaatri.

Navaratri is celebrated in different ways throughout India. In North India, Navaratri is celebrated with much fervor by fasting on all nine days and worshiping Devi in her different forms. The Gujaratis celebrate Navaratri through local gatherings with performances of Garba, a local dance form. The significance of performing Garba is that it awakens Devi from her meditation. It is a prayer to Devi, entreating her to assume her destroyer form to save the Universe. While playing the Garba, a rhythm of three claps is used to invoke the energies of Lord Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva. Navaratri is the biggest festival of the year in the state of West Bengal, where it is celebrated as Durga Pooja. Exquisitely crafted and decorated life-size clay idols of the Goddess Durga depicting her slaying the demon Mahishasur are set up in temples and local pandaals (tents). These deities are worshiped for five days and immersed in the river on the fifth day.

Navaratri is a period of becoming intense in one’s endeavors. Intensity should become a quality. Intensity means radiating the energy that does not create any conflict inside and outside. In these nine days whatever may be the nature of a person, it becomes intense. When fasting and silence is observed during Navaratri, it helps in the growth of intensity in the observants. The celebration and the dance become a complementary support for people to express their intensity.

Navaratri is a powerful time to do completion with oneself and others. It is a time to remember one’s own forgotten powers. The first three days of Navaratri are meant for completion with the destroyer energy, or Durga energy. The next three days are spent in completion with Lakshmi energy, the energy responsible for creativity, wealth and well being. The last three days of Navaratri are meant for completion with Sarasvati, the energy responsible for knowledge and wisdom. The rituals, dances and festivity connected with Navaratri helps in healing relationships. The tenth day of the festival is celebrated as Dushehra or Vijaya Dashami, symbolizing the victory of consciousness over negative influences.

Naga Sadhus: The Embodiment of Non Violence

0

Naga Sadhus are the ultimate advertisement for living a life that is in sync with all of nature.  The western world and the westernized sections of Indian media are obsessed with their nakedness and forget to see them for their amazing grace and powerful existence. At a time when majority of the society is stuck in a consumerist mode and has no control over the impact they create on themselves and the environment, the Naga Sadhus physically portray the possibility of living blissfully with the least number of physical accessories.   Their weapons and powers are never used for aggression and used only to defend. Their immense internal strength and powers makes them non violent. All violence is the expression of your inner feeling of weakness.

Naga Sadhus are seen in large numbers during the Kumbh Mela.  It is about time human beings took a second look at the majority world view versus the possibilities that Naga Sadhus represent.

8513262181_6a346dd6b4_k

How Did the Naga Sadhus Come Into Being?

The order of Naga Sadhus was founded by Dattatreya.  The time when the order was found in not known.  Our tradition used to record aspects that are critical for human consciousness to evolve.  Later, Shankaracharya organized the Nagas to protect Sanatana Dharma.

Sanatan Dharma is the lifestyle that expands our consciousness. In the modern day, Sanatan Dharma has been classified as Hinduism.  The founders of this set of tenets saw this as applicable for all human beings and has no foundation in artificial divisions of human beings based on religion.

Only Liberation: Without Any Identity Crisis

Naga 03Modern society is stuck with creating name and fame for oneself and for their near and extended families.  A glance at political and business families will reinforce this statement.

Naga Sadhus on the contrary have no need to reinforce their identity.  They are dissolved in their Bhakti (devotion) for Mahadeva (Shiva).  They smear their body with sacred ash or bhasma.  Sacred ash denotes the fleeting nature of life.  Smearing it on their body symbolizes that the body is ephemeral and is a reminder of the critical and immediate need for a human being to seek what is permanent and one’s true Self.

The Ones Unmoved by Lust

The proliferation of pornography in whichever medium human beings have invented shows the unabated nature of lust in human society.  Internet is the latest on this list of mediums.

Naga Sadhus know that lust is a powerful energy which, when transformed, can be channelized to achieve the peak possibility of awakening the latent kundalini energy and merging with pure consciousness.  The naga sadhus practice strict celibacy to achieve the highest states of consciousness.

A Life of Aparigraha or Non-Possessiveness

The per-capita carbon footprint is an indication of the extent of material comfort that human beings seek.  The so-called developed countries are those that have the maximum consumption.  If the world population were to live with the per-capita energy utilisation as that of USA, we will need nine earths to satisfy that demand – completely unsustainable.

Naga sadhus are like Mahadeva. Mahadeva is the emodiment of non-possessiveness. He keeps all the useless things for himself and gives away the best things to the society. During the churning of the Milky Ocean, the best fragrant flower treeswere given to the Devathas; Shyamantaka jewellery was given to Lord Vishnu, Devi Lakshmi was given to Lord Vishnu as well.

Mahadeva kept only one thing for himself – poison! The Halahala poison that came out of the ocean was swallowed by Mahadeva. His ornaments are the snakes which drink that poison.  Same way, Naga sadhus keep all the useless things of the society with themselves.  They do not even wear a dress.  They did not keep the best things with themselves. But all the best things they gave to society.  They don’t bother about the materialistic world.

The Most Non Violent Group of Human Beings

Because they do not want anything that someone has, the Nagas are the most peaceful of humans. They have no enemies since they do not value even their lives.  They leave the least destructive impact on the mother earth.  At the same time they do not fear anyone. Society portrays them as fearful because society controls us by fear and greed. The Nagas – who are not bound by either – strike terror at the hearts of the system that is based on command and control. But in reality there is no group of people who are as non violent as the Nagas.  Their weapon and powers are only used for self defense. Their inner strength makes them non violent. Since violence always comes from the inner feeling of weakness. The strong are never violent.

Great Yogis in the Modern Times

The Nagas are known to perform great acts of penance that would seem impossible to normal human beings.  Many do things like spend years with one hand raised into the air, standing on one leg or lying on a bed of thorns. Some sadhus bury themselves neck-deep in sand, mediate for hours while suspended from a rope or have been silent for years.

  • Sadhus sometimes even bury their head, a feat of breath control that requires mastery of yoga techniques. In 1837, a yogi named Hari Das war buried alive without air, food, liquid or any attention, After being excavated he was easily revived and went on to live a long life.
  • One sadhu at the Pushkar Fair became famous for lifting a 35-kilogram brick with his penis.
  • Some sadhus are said to have the ability to talk with monkeys. Sometimes they are sought out by people for help keeping monkeys from raiding their gardens.
  • According to the Guinness Book of Records, the silent Indian fakir Mastram Bapu stayed in the same spot by a road in the village of Chitra for 22 years, from 1960 to 1982. Swami Maujgiri Maharaja stood for 17 years (from 1955 to November 1973) performing Tapasya(penance) in Shahjahanpur, Uttar Pradesh. When sleeping, he leaned against a plank
  • According to the Guinness Book of Records, Radhey Shyam Prajapati stood motionless for world record of 18 hours, 5 minutes and 5 seconds in January 1996. Rajikumar Chakraborty did the static wall sit (Samson’c chair) for 11 hours and 5 minutes at the Panposh Sports Hostel in April 1994.

Modern society deals with all sorts of lifestyle induced diseases like diabetes, hypertension etc.  Au contraire, naga sadhus train on yogic practices to maintain highest physical fitness that can withstand extreme weather conditions even when naked. A member of a Naga Akhara is expected to be ready for a wrestling match at any time.

Naga sadhus epitomize transcending everything that the modern society suffers with. Their very lives are shining examples of how all of human suffering is self-created by falling out of sync with the universal cosmic truths. They don’t even need to speak, just looking at them leading their lives is enough reminder to other human beings to introspect on their life choices, and what ideas their life choices are based on.

Kumbh Mela is a unique festival on the planet where human beings get to see the naga sadhus live their simple yet extraordinary lives, and be blessed by being in the same breathing space as them.

Inner Awakening is a Must for Teenagers!

0

I did not have any intention to go for the Varanasi 2015 Inner Awakening program. However, within 2 days of receiving Swamiji’s blessings (by means of ‘Dial-The-Avatar’) my parents and I were in Varanasi! Although this was my second Inner Awakening program, it could in no way be compared to the previous one! This time it had two new components, i.e, the Shivoham process and the Third Eye Awakening initiation.

As per my understanding, the Shivoham process is an intense cleansing process wherein Swamiji cleanses our very bio-memory and muscle memory, thereby relieving us from all the pain, fear and suffering patterns and other incompletions that we have been carrying since birth in this life and all our previous births. This process is so intense that by the 3rd day itself I felt myself becoming light.

We were also initiated by Swamiji to awaken the third eye, which is an actual phenomena situated in the brow-centre. Just by its awakening, I  can feel so many powers awaken in me. For example, I felt my intuition become extremely sharp, by about ten-fold.

The Inner Awakening program conducted by my guru Paramahamsa Nithyananda is, I would say, the ultimate and a must in every person’s life, especially in a teenagers’ life.

Shivoham Fulfills You Now!

0
Shivoham Fulfills You Now!

This article is from the ‘Keep It Simple Series’ of discourses given by Nithyananda on Shivoham. It gives the simple basic technique to be initiated into the space of ‘Shivoham’ (I am Shiva) where there are no prerequisites or conditions. It explains how it is only our logic that needs to be convinced of this truth.

Mahadeva represents the principles and great truths that form the social fabric of the Sanatana Hindu dharma. He is the ‘big’ possibility. He is the solidified expression of ‘tyaga,’ sacrifice. With the power and possibility He represents, He goes on sacrificing for people who don’t even know or recognize his sacrifice. Hence He is called ‘Tyagaraja’ (king of sacrifice).

Being in ‘Shivabodha’ (bliss of being Mahadeva) is an extraordinary joy. When you’re in that joyful space, you will always give and forgive. ‘Shivoham’ – ‘You are Mahadeva’ – is the mahavakya, the truth which completes and fulfils you. ‘Shivoham’ will give you completion in all levels.

Knowing the bliss of being Shiva, and understanding that this is the space where you will eventually end, gives you the ultimate clarity and changes your present state for the better. But, now you’re afraid of any fear that may come up in the future! You’re anxious because there may be some anxiety in the future. You’re worried for the worries that might come up in the future. Know that the end of your game is not fear, anxiety or worry, but bliss! This knowledge makes you blissful immediately.

In the present, you start tasting whatever you strongly believe will be the end. Right now, the statement, “One day I’m going to suffer” makes so much sense to you. On the other hand, “One day I’m going to end up in ‘Shivoham’” doesn’t make much sense. This is where the whole problem lies. Your wrong beliefs stop you from experiencing the intoxication of being Shiva. Initiation by the Master melts these obstacles and gives you the direct experience of ‘Shivoham’.

Detox Your Body & Mind the Vedic Way!

0

The Vedic Science of Detoxification of Body and Mind

Our dietary habits, lifestyle and thinking have a collective effect on our overall health. These 3 are considered as the three pillars of health – AhAra (diet), vihAra (lifestyle) and vichAra (thoughts). Any form of disturbance in these three can lead to a disturbance in the equilibrium of the three doshas (vAta, pitta and kapha), which can be loosely translated to the 3 biological energies of the body.

By and by, there is accumulation of vitiated doshas (acting here as toxins) in the tissues of the body. The blood chemistry gets disturbed, leading to various lifestyle disorders like diabetes, hyper and hypo thyroidism, and skin disorders– to name a few. Virechana Therapy or medicated purgation therapy helps remove the vitiated doshas (especially vitiated pitta, since it has an intimate relation with blood tissue) from the body. When these toxins are removed from the body as per the methods given in the original scriptures of Ayurveda, the detoxification is permanent.

dOShANam cha druvANam cha mUlena upahate sati /

rOgANAm prasavAnAm cha gatAnAm Agatihi dhruva //

– Charaka Samhita, Sutra Sthana. 16

Translation:

“Like how when the trees are uprooted from their roots, they won’t grow back, similarly the vitiated doshas (toxins) when removed from their roots through the detoxification procedure will not reappear.”

The Agnis in the Human Body

As per Ayurveda, the human body has thirteen “Agnis”. “Agni” is the term for the whole process of biological conversion and utilization of energy. Malfunctioning of Agni leads to production of Ama (undigested material that remains in tract and acts as antigens/toxins and are responsible for production of various diseases & autoimmune diseases). Production of Ama may occur at the level of Jataragni (improper digestion in digestive tract), Bhutagni (liver dysfunction) or Dhatwagni (disturbed tissue metabolism). Ama is said to be the root cause of all diseases and can be indicated by lethargy, a coated tongue and foul breath. These undigested substances can be recognizable to us as:

  1. High cholesterol
  2. Chronic fatigue syndrome
  3. Candida
  4. Diabetes
  5. Constipation
  6. Obesity
  7. Depression
  8. Stress and anxiety

Start Walking on the Path to Shivoham: Four Easy Steps

1
Start Walking on the Path to Shivoham

This article is from the ‘Keep It Simple Series’ of discourses given by Nithyananda on Shivoham. It gives the simple basic technique to be initiated into the space of ‘Shivoham’ (I am Shiva) where there are no prerequisites or conditions. It explains how it is only our logic that needs to be convinced of this truth.

Being blissful always just because you exist is ‘Shivabodha’, the intoxication of being Shiva.

There’s no fine print in the Shivoham initiation. You are Mahadeva! There is no prerequisite for you to experience, live, radiate Shivoham. The reasons you are not Mahadeva are not real in the cosmic law of life, because Shivoham is the unconditional truth.

You may not be able to experience Shivoham right from day one; you don’t have to bother about it. You may not be able to sit under a banyan tree and give enlightenment to people immediately. But you can live like Mahadeva based on what you know as Mahadeva. SAT (truth)-CHIT (consciousness) – ANANDA (bliss of constantly being himself) is the basic expression of Mahadeva.

A simple four-step logical exercise is all you need to complete with your doubts around the statement – ‘I am Shiva,’ and get a straightforward initiation into Shivoham.

First: “My Guru is the ultimate spiritual expression I know. He told me clearly that I am Shiva, I am Mahadeva. Then this is the path I need to start walking on.”

Second: “My Guru  did not give any pre-conditions or pre-qualifications for me to experience ‘Shivoham’. He said, ‘You ARE Mahadeva as you are’. Then the whole problem boils down to my not accepting it.  Any logic that says I’m not Mahadeva is not factual.”

Third: “Anything which is not factual, I can complete with it. It is my freedom. I created the delusion around me. ” The very remembrance of this statement drastically reduces the powers of incompletion.

Fourth: “Let me start celebrating all the qualities I can radiate as Mahadeva.”

Being blissful just because you exist is the state of being Shiva. Even when you just visualize the state of being Shiva, the energy oozes in your body. Shiva is a vibrant, living, intelligent being. When you invoke His presence, he clears tons of incompletions.  His presence is invoked when you establish this simple four-step logic. Invite Him again and again. When He arrives, all incompletions are burnt, nothing is left!

In the Shivoham process, which is a part of the Inner Awakening program, Paramahamsa Nithyananda infuses the very sound and visualizations of the “Shivoham” experience into the bio-memory of the participants, without any effort from their end. When the Shivabodha settles into the bio-memory, the experience becomes a permanent software of cognition for that person.

Kashi Vishwanatha Temple, Varanasi

0
Golden Temple, Kashi Vishwanath, Varanasi

In the heart of the city, the center of the cosmic mandala, is the Kashi Vishwanath Temple.  Benaras or Varanasi is the one of the holiest places and the center of earth in Hindu cosmology. It is an important pilgrimage site where people pour the remains (ashes) of cremated ancestors on the River Ganges, for liberation of their souls.

The temple stands on the western bank of the holy river Ganges, and enshrines one of the twelve sacred Jyotirlingas of Shiva, making it one of the holiest of Shiva temples. The Jyotirlingas are sacred sites of worship of Lord Shiva where Lord Shiva appeared as a shaft of light and where Lord Shiva’s divine presence is alive eternally. The main deity of the temple is known by the name of “Vishwanatha” or “Vishweshwara”, meaning the ruler of the universe. The temple town that is the oldest living city in the world, with 3500 years of documented history, is also called Kashi and hence the temple is popularly known as the Kashi Vishwanath Temple. Due to its 15.5m high golden spire, the temple is also called the Golden Temple.

The temple complex consists of a series of smaller shrines, located in a small lane called the “Vishwanatha Gali”, near the River Ganga. The main deity at the shrine is the Shiva linga, which is 60 cm tall and 90 cm in circumference, housed in a silver altar. There are temples for Kalabhairava, Dhandapani, Avimukteshwara, Vishnu, Vinayaka, Shanishwara, Virupaksha and Virupaksh Gauri in the complex. There is a small well in the temple called the Jnana Vapi (the wisdom well). Historical accounts say that upon invasion by the Moghul king Aurangzeb on 2nd September, 1669, the main priests of the temple jumped into the well with the Shiva linga in order to protect the Jyotirlinga from the invaders and remained in jala samadhi. When the Jyotirlinga was discovered again after centuries, even the lamp was burning at the altar and the flowers were fresh!

Allow the Divine to be Your Co-Creator

Allow the Divine to be Your Co-Creator

The moment you decide to do the Inner Awakening (IA) program and sign the intention form, entanglement starts. The moment you register upon your arrival to the program, entrainment starts. And the moment you sit in front of me and the screen opens, enlightenment starts!
Entanglement happens when the thoughts of two or more people are in union with one another. Entrainment is two people falling in tune with the same idea.
Enlightenment is when two people unite beyond ideas. When you are in the thoughtless state, you are in entanglement with an Enlightened Being.
Understand, the moment you think of attending Inner Awakening, the entanglement starts – immediately the connection begins. After that, making it into reality is my responsibility. In Tamil there is a beautiful song that a great devotee of Shiva sings, “Only by His grace can you even remember Him.” Unless you have His grace, you cannot even connect with Him. So the moment you feel you want to do Inner Awakening, my blessings are already there with you. Otherwise, you would not even think about wanting to do IA.

The moment you fill the intention form, you officially authorize me to enter into your life, alter all the situations, remove obstacles and open all the doors for you to come to IA. The intention form is nothing but giving the permission to me.

My grace is always flowing in all directions. But grace is always very shy to enter! It says, “Can I enter? Will he feel I am intruding? Will he feel his privacy is disrespected?” Please understand, many times God is ready and waiting to help, but He is afraid you will shout, “Who are you to enter, why did you enter?” Many times it has happened that you told Him, “I may die but I will not take your help!” He waits. Once in a while He asks you, “May I come in?” When you sign the intention form, you are just saying, come in! Finally the grace can rush in, so that He can alter all the situations, make arrangements and make all the possibilities open.

Sign the intention form and I will be the co-creator to cause IA as a reality for you. The moment you make the intention that you need IA in your life and you fill the intention form, I become the co-creator to cause IA in you.
Don’t postpone transformation! The decision has to be made now!

Purify Your Vak

0
Purify Your Vak

Inside of everyone exists something called the vak. It can be considered an organ just like your lungs, heart, liver, heart and so on.  It exists in the region between the throat and the heart, depending on the person, in the area where your body and mind intersect. The base material of the vak is made from your mind but it is used in the field of the body.

Organs like the heart and lungs are made out of flesh, skin and muscle – physical matter used in the physical body. That is why western medicine is able to diagnose and catch diseases in them.  There are several organs which are made out of mind, but used in the body such as the vak. Please listen! It is not metaphysical, imaginary or a hallucination. Vak is an important organ that is responsible for all the words you utter.

Every non-integrated word you utter pollutes your vak. The good news is, because it can be polluted easily, it can be cleaned easily.  One lie and the vak will get polluted. But, just by completing with the lie, the vak can be healed immediately. It will be free! Because words corrupt the vak, words can also purify the vak.

The diseases which form in your body because of the wrong breathing can be completely healed by the right breathing.  Likewise, diseases created in your body because of handling the body in the wrong way, such as having poor posture, can be healed by stretching and using the correct posture. In the same way, diseases also manifest in the body due to negative, harmful words. But by understanding and practicing the spiritual truth of integrity, the vak can be purified, and the disease can be cured by using the right words towards yourself and others.

Understand, how much ever you have corrupted your vak, it can be cleaned, it can be completed now!  Because, how much ever pollution you dump on the Ganga, it can be purified now, the moment more water comes.  By the nature of Ganga, you cannot pollute it!  It is flowing!  You should stop continuous pollution.  Because we are continuously polluting, the Ganga is polluted.  The Ganga is not polluted by one action; it is by the continuous pollution, understand. So just by completion and integrity, your vak can be purified immediately.

From this, the whole science of Vak Siddhi is founded. A siddhi is an extraordinary power attained through spiritual practice.

It is not difficult to practice integrity as a lifestyle. It is easy as setting aside time to brush your teeth twice a day – it becomes a habit. Just as your oral hygiene is important, keeping your internal body clean is also important. Practicing integrity, being aware of the words you utter inside and to others, is the purifying mechanism.

Through integrity, the power of words, Vak Siddhi is awakened. Vak Siddhi is the voice of the divine truth, giving you the ability to manifest your words as reality and to know what others will say even before they speak.  You will have control over your words and what others say to you, with the ability to create a positive impact on the world. Your words count and so do those of others!

Secrets of Kashi, Revealed!

0
Secrets of Kashi Revealed

The original Kashi is called Avimuktha Kshetra – never given up, never forsaken. It means that the people who live there, and Kashi itself will never be forsaken. When the whole world is destroyed during Pralaya (the great deluge), Mahadeva declares that he will hold and protect Kashi on the tip of his trishul. His protection is called Urdhvamnaya.

The city of Kashi is most fascinating! Varanasi’s streets are very famous, consisting of small, gully-like lanes that are only two-and-a-half to three feet wide. The city was designed and built in the days before bullock carts were invented. You may ask, why such small, narrow streets? Kalabhairava revealed to Paramahamsa Nithyananda that Kashi’s streets of today were not streets but used for drainage! They did not have streets because you could only live there if you have mastered the science of flying, levitation! There were three ways of flying in those days: Mani, Mantra and Oshadha.

Mani – Is the technology of small, personal flying machines, sometimes larger like the Pushpaka Vimana (flying chariot).

Mantra – By mastering the science of Pranayama and balancing the flow of the breath, large amounts of samana energy are absorbed in the system and the body will simply rise and move.

Oushadha – These are special herbs that, when held under the tongue, will help contain the prana inside the body, making it become weightless and the body will rise and can be moved.

In the Vedic Tradition, the technology, Mani, is described in the Vaimanika Shastra.  It clearly describes the different flying machines, from one man’s private flying machine, to machines in which around five thousand people can fly.

‘Kalabhairava says that only the people who can fly live in Kashi. This means Kashi was full of people who were capable of levitating! I was just resting in samadhi with this one thought – “How can a city full of people be able to levitate?  Come on!  Looks too much!”  I had the answer – “When you feel Advaita (everything is an extension of you) with the air, the energy-flow in your system, you can either make yourself very heavy or very light!”  Anything is possible!’ ~ Paramahamsa Nithyananda

Golden City of Kashi

The Golden City Of Kashi

The city of Kashi, or modern day Varanasi, was established thousands of years ago by Mahadeva Himself. Once, the bhootganas and pretas requested Mahadeva to establish a community on the planet Earth. That is when Mahadeva came down on the planet Earth with His disciples, followers, bhootas, pretas and ganas and established the city of Kashi. Only after that did the Ganga flow to Kashi. Kashi is much older than even the Ganga river.

The present day Kashi has seven layers of cities under it. It was built and sunk and then rebuilt and again sunk seven times. Even if you dig a bore well in Kashi, seven layers of cities will be found. The whole city is a consolidated experience of the principle of Advaita! It is the consolidated Advaitic experience of millions of enlightened beings.  With that the city is built.  That is why it is called the “Suvarna Bhoomi”.  The city is the “Golden City”.

All mystical traditions on the planet Earth use this technique of meditation on death.

Focus on fire rising through your form, from the toes up, until the body burns to ashes, but not YOU.

Katopanishad (sacred Vedic text) describes this technique wonderfully. I can say that the most used technique in Vedanta for enlightenment is this death meditation. Everybody, before taking sannyas, has to go through this technique. In Buddhism, anybody who is initiated into sannyas has to first go and sit in the graveyard for three months, continuously facing the dead bodies being burnt, while visualizing that he is also being burnt.

During my parivrajaka (spiritual wandering), I personally had this experience in Varanasi at Manikarnika Ghat, where they burn 300 bodies per day! When you continuously see this happening, you actually lose respect for death. Now you have too much respect, too many ideas about it. It is nothing! The breath which went inside did not come out. That’s all!

When I saw the bodies being burnt continuously, the little fear which was there initially disappeared and slowly, it became interesting. I began to go near and helped them. I started to think, “After all this body is also going to become like this. Yes. Over! Oh, God. Yes, in the same way this body is also going to burn. Let it happen.” That click opened up a deep fear of death which spread all over the body.

When the fear met my awareness, it became a death experience. I faced it consciously and could see the fear very clearly. Understand, whenever your fear is suppressed, it stays inside you as suppressed fear. When it comes out and you are not facing it consciously, it becomes a fear stroke, shakes and breaks your whole nervous system – you experience a nervous breakdown. If it is faced consciously, it becomes a death experience. I was able to see very clearly the body is dead. It was not moving.

Two and a half days – no food, no water, no thought, no questions. I could see with closed eyes that the body was dead and without movement. Suddenly that deep click and clarity happened – ‘The body is dead, but I still exist. I am here.’ Slowly I opened the eyes and was able to move the body. The first thing I felt was such a deep ecstasy, joy, gratitude – bliss! I knew I would not be alive any more as I thought, because the fear of death left once for all. I can say this is one of the very strong experiences that transformed me towards my enlightenment, towards the ultimate, spiritual truth.

Third Eye, the Seat of Consciousness

Third Eye, the Seat of Consciousness

The Third Eye is a very potent, important power which is stored in every human being – it is the very source of your consciousness. All the extraordinary, mystical and spiritual traditions continuously work on awakening the Third Eye. Unique to the Vedic tradition, all the Hindu gods are portrayed with three eyes. It means that you can become God only if your Third Eye is awakened, not otherwise. Hindus have worked so much on activating the Third Eye, discovering long ago that continuously wearing kumkum (processed turmeric), the bindi, on the Third Eye works to awaken it.

Awakening the Third Eye awakens the non-mechanical parts of the brain, allowing you to experience powers like telepathy, materialization, teleportation and many other miraculous powers. The Third Eye is the bridge between the physical world and the psychic and cosmic spaces. It is like a ‘browsing center’, a door to the Cosmos. You can receive and transmit anything to the Cosmos through the Third Eye, living with unimaginable powers when it is completely awakened.

The power of the Third Eye is so extraordinary that if your awareness is on the Third Eye while you leave the body, you will become enlightened. It is also true that whoever dies in the holy city of Varanasi, on the banks of the Ganga River, will achieve liberation.

Varanasi is a very powerful spiritual center, blessed by Lord Shiva. “Varanasi” in Sanskrit literally means the space between the varana (eyebrows) and the nasi (nose). The innumerable benefits of an awakened Third Eye can be experienced while you are alive in the presence of a living incarnation in the Inner Awakening program.

The Boons Given to Kashi

The Boons Given to Kashi

Kashi was created by Lord Shiva and is an independent intelligence called Kashi Devi. After He created Her, Kashi Devi asked a boon of Lord Shiva, Mahadeva, “Bless me so that whoever enters Kashi (Varanasi) will obtain liberation.”

Mahadeva then gave three boons:  ‘First, whoever comes into Kashi and gets into the Ganga (the Ganges River) to take snaan (sacred bath), will have all their sins washed away. Second, whoever dies in Kashi will be liberated. And third, whoever’s body is brought and burnt in Manikarnika Ghat or Harishchandra Ghat will also be liberated.’  Kashi Devi was really happy with these three boons.

But Devi Parvati interfered and said, ‘Mahadeva, don’t you feel you made liberation very cheap and enlightenment so easy? Everyone can get it!’

Mahadeva said, ‘Don’t worry, I will take you to Kashi and show you. Come.’

Meanwhile, this boon that Mahadeva gave to Kashi Devi became very popular. In the next few days, almost the whole world had gathered to take a bath in the Ganga.

Mahadeva and Devi arrived in Kashi. Mahadeva said to Devi, ‘Now let both of us become human beings. I will lie down pretending I’m your dead husband and you sit down here acting as the widow, crying.  If any person without sin touches me, I will come back to life.  If somebody with sin touches me and tries to bring me back to life, they will die.’

Mahadeva lay down as a dead body and Devi sat there crying extremely loudly.  All the people who had come to take a bath in the Ganga came and asked Devi, ‘What happened? What happened? Why are you crying? Why is such a beautiful lady sitting and crying in front of such a beautiful man?’

Devi said, ‘My young husband has died.  If anybody without sin touches my husband’s body, he will come back to life.  But if you have done some sin and you touch him, your head will burst and you will die!’

From morning to night, millions of people took bath in the Ganga, but not a single person dared to touch this body!

The boons given to Kashi

Late that night, one drunkard fellow came.  He also asked Devi, ‘What happened?’ Devi said, ‘If anybody without sin touches my husband, he will come back to life.  But if a person with sin touches him, that person will die!’

Devi thought that this man will start running away like all the others. But that drunken fellow looked at Devi and said, ‘Wait, wait, wait …. I heard Shiva has given some boon.’ So he gets into the Ganga, takes a bath and comes out.  Then he said, ‘I have done all types of sins.  But now, after taking bath in the Ganga, I am free of all sins because Shiva gave this boon.’

Then he touches the dead body of the husband! Naturally, Shiva comes back to life and gives darshan, liberating him. Then Mahadeva asks Devi, ‘Do you see now? Millions may take a bath but do they create the right context?’

Understand, only the power of completion creates the context for any great thing. When you get into the Ganga, naturally all your self-doubts will come up and you will think, did Shiva really bless the Ganga? Will the boon work for sure? Am I even qualified for this blessing?

Complete with all your self-doubts and get into the Ganga!  You will come out as a sinless, pure being.  But, understand, you may still have doubt.  Fortunately, the second and third boons are absolute boons that also work – whoever dies in Kashi will be liberated and anyone whose body that is burnt, in Manikarnika Ghat or Harishchandra Ghat, will be liberated.  Both these boons still work!

How? Because, when you are dead, you don’t have the mechanism of creating incompletions! Because of that, these two boons are absolute boons – whether you create the context or not, they work on you.

Understand, while you are alive in the body, anything great can be achieved only by creating the right context. The right context-creation happens only by LIVING in the space of completion!

The science of completion is true freedom! Get it in the Inner Awakening program.

Sacred Places + Incarnation = Transformation

Sacred Places + Incarnation = Transformation

Whoever reveals the unrevealed is an incarnation – it should not just disappear without being revealed to the world. With tremendous compassion and love, the human consciousness should experience the unrevealed super-consciousness. Beings who reveal the super-consciousness to the human consciousness are called incarnations. By his presence alone, a being who creates the highest possibility in any number of people, is called an incarnation.” – Paramahamsa Nithyananda

The cherished Hindu scripture called Guru Gita, states that wherever the Master sits, he creates a kshetra – a powerful energy field. The energy of an enlightened being, or Master, radiates and ‘fills’ an area with a loving, caring and peaceful ambience, creating a beautiful environment for you to experiment with the enlightenment process, find out your higher destiny, drop your lower desires, heal from past traumas, discover inner powers or to experience mystical processes. Additionally, within the kshetra, the Master ensures that your body and mind are protected, making it the safest place for you to discover YOU!

Spending time away from the place where you are living with your identity gives you the opportunity to be OUT of your identity. Participating in the powerful Inner Awakening program gives you the freedom to experience the deeper truths about yourself without all your identity baggage.

Visiting spiritual epicentres like Varanasi and Hardwar with an enlightened being, guarantees that the rapid growth of a new consciousness will happen. Seekers can practice lifetimes to achieve the same space you will experience – in just 21 days of the Inner Awakening program! The Master helps you clear out your old, false identities, making room for you to create your new inner space, where rewriting your future happens. When the energy of a spiritual epicentre like Varanasi is added to the Divine Energy of an Incarnation like Paramahamsa Nithyananda, profound, permanent transformation and life-altering experiences are just a part of the itinerary.  Ultimately, a Master is a scientist of the inner world, here to awaken humanity and raise the consciousness of the planet. He continuously develops new formulas to recreate his enlightenment experience in others. But because Paramahamsa Nithyananda is a rare jewel among Masters, an incarnation and avatar, he can simply put you into the experience, ensuring that it happens within you. No need for any formulas with him! Once you say ‘yes’ and step inside HIS kshetra, the process begins. Only the ‘yes’ and receptive mood is needed. Understand, the minute you enter, with or without your knowledge, the transformation has begun. You will transform! You will become an awakened being!
